PARENT AND CHILD
Parent & Child Level 1 Aquatics (6 Months to 2 Years)
Parent & Child Level 2 Aquatics (3 Years to 4 Years)
Swim appropriate diapers are required. Use of regular diapers are not permitted under any circumstances.
Parents and little ones will learn a basic swim foundation together. This class includes water-based movement, swim facts, and safety lessons. During the 12 weeks, children will gain confidence and hopefully, let go of any fear associated with being in the water. Your child and you will have a blast together, moving in the water and learning.
Children’s Level 1- Introduction to Water Slills (Age: 3+)
This class is the next step after Parent and Me and children who have some or very little previous exposure to water. Children will participate in this class parent-free. Parents will not be in the water with children but one parent is welcome to observe from the deck and be there to assist your child with any bathroom trips, no siblings, please. Level 1 is for the absolute beginner who may (or may not) have a fear of entering the water. Safety maneuvers such as hanging from the wall, and walking along the wall to safety (“spider walking”) are taught and mastered. The children will also learn what to do if they should accidentally fall into a body of water (survival back float). In addition to eliminating levels of fear by exposure and gentle coercion, introduction to the proper breathing techniques, body alignment, and arm and leg movements will be taught.
Children’s Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills (Age: 4+)
This is a class layered on to the skills taught in level 1 and is for children who are confident and comfortable entering the water. There will be focus on kicking drills, arm strokes, front float, back float, treading water, and breathing. A skills assessment will be given before child can move to the next level.
Children’s Level 2.5 – Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes (Age: 5-6+)
This is a class layers on to the skills taught in level 2 and is for children to start learning swim strokes and kicks (butterfly, back crawl, dolphin kicks, plus swimming under water and turns). A skills assessment will be given before child can move to level 3.
Children’s Level 3 – Stroke Development (Age: 5 to 6+)
Skills assessment test required to enter this class. Lessons for level 3 will introduce swimmers to treading water, flutter kicks, survival floating, backstroke kick drills, dolphin kick drills, scissors kick, swimming underwater, and how to turn from front to back in the water.
Children’s Swim – Level 4 – Stroke Improvement (Age: 7-8+)
Skills assessment from level 3 required to enroll in this class. The child entering this class must be able to swim the width (2 meters) of the pool freestyle or front crawl. Lessons for level 4 will introduce swimmers to swimming under water, breast stroke, butterfly drills, and side stroke. Students will learn to regulate breathing, swim the length of the pool without assistance, and come away with knowledge of both freestyle and backstroke basics. Classes will also teach survival drills such as different techniques for treading water, back survival float, and deep water survival (falling in without a wall to grab).
Adult Level 1 – Learning the Basics
This Level 1 class is designed for adults who have very little or no swimming experience and may be fearful or uncomfortable in the water of any depth. The course provides instruction in basic water skills and principles including; comfortable entry, submersion, floating, breathing techniques, and an introduction to basic swimming strokes (freestyle and backstroke). In this class you will also learn basic personal water safety skills. The course is intended to help participant gain confidence and self-reliance in the water in a safe and fun environment.
Adult Level 2 – Improving Skills & Swimming Strokes
The next step. The Level 2 class is designed for adults who have passed level one and are ready to enhance their skills. This course provides instruction in basic water skills and principles including; comfortable entry, submersion, floating, breathing techniques, dolphin kick, sidestroke, back crawl, butterfly arms and swimming under water. In this class you will also learn basic personal water safety skills.
Priority enrollment for the next session is given to currently enrolled swimmers at the start of week 8.
Priority enrollment guarantees a spot for you or your child, but we can not guarantee the instructor.
Open enrollment for new clients begins during week 9
12 Week 30-Minute Classes (Classes meet once a week)
*If a class is canceled due to inclimate weather or pool safety, a make-up class will be scheduled at the end of the 12-week course. No make-up classes are offered. When registering, please commit to attending all 12 weeks of the course.
